About the author
Catherine Nerney, a Sister of St. Joseph, Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, is a professor of religious studies in the Spirituality Graduate Department and director of the Institute for Forgiveness and Reconciliation at Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia. She has ministered to small Christian communities (SCCs) since 1978, when she was a facilitator in her RENEW small community in Bayonne, New Jersey. Inspired by her RENEW experience, Sister Cathy joined the Small Christian Community Department in the Archdiocese of Newark, New Jersey, and served there from 1982 to 1986. Today, Sister Cathy continues to lecture and write on the roles SCCs play in shaping the Church.
